Boulder's public indoor tennis courts are gone. The fix is due this summer.
Boulder went into 2025 down 27 tennis courts. Fifteen went with the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center at the Millennium Harvest House, demolished in spring 2024 to make way for student housing. By the Boulder Tennis Association’s count, that site held the only five indoor courts in the city open to the public. Twelve more came out at CU South ahead of flood mitigation work, as Westword reported.
That leaves Boulder with about 20 dedicated public outdoor courts, eight multi-use courts, and no public indoor tennis at all. The private routes are backed up too: a years-long waitlist at Meadows and a five-figure initiation at Boulder Country Club. The city’s own 2024 parks analysis says Boulder needs roughly 22 more dedicated tennis courts and 22 dedicated pickleball courts to meet current demand.
What’s due now
The big fix is the City of Boulder and CU Athletics indoor facility at East Boulder Community Park: four to six indoor courts shared between the CU tennis program and the public, with a ribbon cutting targeted for summer 2026. That window is open now. The city hasn’t announced an opening date as of mid-July. We’ll update this page when it does.
Pickleball gets its own moment this year. Boulder’s first dedicated public pickleball complex, 12 lighted courts at Tom Watson Park, broke ground this spring and targets a November opening.
